It’s been over three years since AlunaGeorge’s debut album Body Music was released but, despite all that time, the electronic pop duo has failed in creating an album that lives up to the hype. Whilst the band’s last album was refreshing with Francis’ unique vocals bringing something new to a dying dance scene, throughout I Remember her voice is monotonous and dull.
The duo relies heavily on their overproduced backing tracks which fail to live up to what would be expected of the band. There are a couple of songs that are worth a listen to, including In My Head, but that is because they sound much like what the pair have produced in the past rather than creating anything new. It’s a shame after such a brilliant start to their career the duo couldn’t continue the momentum with I Remember.
Unfortunately, the band have fallen into the dreaded sophomore slump but their career is still young and with the right collaboration a repeat of the success of White Noise could be right around the corner.
